Blood Red Road

To rescue her kidnapped twin brother from the hands of a powerful man, Saba travels through dangerous places with hard terrain, comes across all sorts of loathsome characters and becomes captured and trained into a fighter of the highest degree.

Saba's twin brother, Lugh, has been kidnapped. This forces Saba to undergo a quest to find and avenge him. A quest which takes her far away from her home in Silverlake and forces her to face challenges on her own. Whilst Saba has to find her brother, she still has her helpless sister to look after. She faces many tasks and problems along the way, but will she make it to save the day?

I was asking myself that question the whole way through the book. This book has features that all come together and make it brilliant. One of which being the language. The language really sets the scene in my mind and made me able to visualise  the lifestyle they had and where they lived.

This captivating book is written by Moira Young. It would be a great read for fans of the ‘Hunger games’ and most other post apocalyptic books. In this thrilling book, Moira Young makes the pace of the book fast and non stop. This not only gives the book more depth, but it also adds a hurried tempo to create tension.

I did not enjoy this book quite as much as I’d hoped to, however. This was not because it wasn’t good, it was because the language didn’t sit well with me. This challenge may have been a good thing because I had to process the words more carefully to make sure I knew what was going on.

If you liked the Hunger games and others like it, this book is well worth reading!
