Why We Broke Up

This book will have you stuck in a whirlwind of emotion and you won't be able to close the book. The book 'Why We Broke Up' by Daniel Handler was one of the best books I have ever laid eyes upon. It is a romance fiction between two teenagers who fall in love but break up and this book is their story. This type of stories are normally aimed at girls but who said that boys cannot enjoy it just as much, especially when it is this good?

The story is about a girl and boy called Min and Ed who were in a relationship and the book is a diary directly written to Ed about why Min broke up with him. Each reason makes reference to an object and the story behind it. For example in the book there was a salt shaker and that salt shaker was from when they went on a date and asked for extra salt.

Furthermore, throughout the book, I realised that the book was almost set out in bullet points. For example the author would refer to an object and explain how this object is a reason in why they broke up. I enjoyed this idea and thought it was original due to it being very easy to understand and almost a new book within every chapter.

The story line is a classic love turns to hate story line, which is very popular at the moment and appeals to teenagers and some adults but not children. Anyone who can relate with the storyline will enjoy this to a high extent but even people who haven't been in that situation will enjoy a piece of classic teenage drama.

Overall this a book which is highly enjoyable with a brilliant story line and heartfelt drama which can melt a heart in one sentence. 4 out of 5 stars and overall a heart throbbing book which I would highly recommend.
