Code Name Verity

'I have two weeks, you'll shoot me at the end no matter what I do.'

Code Name Verity is moving, gripping and moves the pages of history. WWII is a really important time in the history of the world. The first half of the book is around the story of the main character’s (code name Verity) time in Nazi-occupied France after her plane crashes. The pilot and passenger are best friends. Their names are Maddie (Pilot) and the spy (Code name Verity). Verity gets captured by the Nazi's and is tortured, she gives up eleven secret codes to stop her torturing and considers herself a coward. But she is brave, braver than most. The second half of the story is about Maddie, the pilot, and how she plans to get her best friend out of the concentration camp, her clever plan has drawbacks though but she gets her great friend out of the concentration camp through her intelligent plane. The characters are very interesting because of what they think with Verity feeling as if it is the end and Maddie feeling determined to save her friend and her actions because of her thoughts make for a gripping book. I feel that the imagery really adds to the story as you feel as if you are there with Verity and Maddie and not just reading the book relaxing on the sofa. The theme is great because it reminds you of the millions of individual stories that connects families and show the bravery of the people of WWII.

The story is a very moving one that reminds you of the true courage of the people who helped the allied nations in the second World War  that so many of us know so much about and feel so emotionally attached to making sure that the story really pulls at your heartstrings making a fantastic story.

My favourite moment is the part where the quote 'I have two weeks, you'll shoot me at the end no matter what I do' falls into place as I feel the section has a beautiful river of deliciously chosen words to make a beautifully flowing river of English.
