Boy on the edge

Boy on the edge is, quite simply, a book that makes you think about what you have lost, but reminds you of what you have gained. It’s about a boy who is deformed and who cannot speak very well, and who only really wants to have friends, but he gets sent to a farmhouse in a remote part of Iceland. He quite simply loses everything near the end, but because I don't want to spoil it I won't say what happens after that.

The boy is called Henry, and he is deformed and cannot speak well, and he is bullied at school by other people, but he soon he retaliates and beats up the bully, and his mother tells him to stop retaliating, but then he builds up his anger and hits her, breaking her arm. He is then sent to a ‘reconstruction farm’ where he is meant to sort his life out.

While Henry is at the farm he finds friendship, but not at first. He soon realises that the road to friendship is a long path. It has it's ups and downs, but in the end he finds out what it really is.

Boy On The Edge is a book that does make you think about you losses. Friendship. And most importantly, your choices in life. It makes you contemplate, which means to think of something, usually something big in life.

In my eyes, the intro to the book only really makes sense when you get nearer the end of the book, as you know who the characters are and their significance. I recommend this book to people who are looking for a story about friendship and also people who want to have a heartwarming story.

I rate it 9/10
