Dying To Know You

“Dying to know you” is a tear-jerking, emotional rollercoaster. The book starts off just being about a young adult seeking help in love. However, when this true love is broken Karl's world is turned upside down and he flies into depression; he even thinks about committing suicide. As he begins to get back up on his feet an act of violence leads him straight to the hospital bed.

Although the plot can be confusing and it was a bit slow in places, it was very moving and will touch many hearts. The book contains mature scenes throughout so I would recommend to older kids.

As the story goes on you get to know the characters very well. I personally became very fond of the character of the local writer (or advisor) because he’s a very likeable, kind, generous man. I see him as being a great role model to Karl and the two form a very strong bond. We also become very close to Fiorella and Karl. Fiorella being a headstrong adolescent and Karl a self-conscious 18-year-old. I feel as though Karl's personality switches when Fiorella dumps him, and from then on we know the story is serious.

I think the story means more than just adolescent love; I think it’s about all different types of love. I think it’s about fake love, true love, passionate love and good old friendship! Love is shown everywhere in the story; sometimes obvious and sometimes implied but not said.

Overall, “Dying to know you” shows difficult problems in life and allows you to watch how people get through them. It shows you a rollercoaster journey. You love life and then you don’t. It teaches us that whatever life throws at us, we can always get through it.

Therefore I rate this book a 3.5 out of 5.
